Overview of Florida’s Assessment System
Florida uses a variety of assessments to measure student progress and academic achievement. These assessments help identify learning gaps, guide instruction, and determine school accountability.
Purpose of Different Exams
FAST (Florida Assessment of Student Thinking): Replaces the FSA and is used to assess ELA and Math skills in real-time throughout the year.
EOC (End-of-Course) Exams: Administered at the end of specific high school courses such as Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, U.S. History, and Civics.
FAA (Florida Alternate Assessment): Designed for students with significant cognitive disabilities.
Who Takes These Tests and When?
FAST: Taken by students in grades 3–10 (ELA) and 3–8 (Math).
EOCs: Typically taken by students enrolled in the respective high school course.
FAA: Administered to eligible students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Staying informed about testing dates and eligibility is key to helping students succeed.
