What to Do If Your Child Misses a Florida Standardized Test

Life happens. Whether due to illness, family emergencies, or unexpected scheduling issues, students may sometimes miss a scheduled test. Here’s what Florida families need to know if that happens.

📅 Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Contact the School Immediately: Let the school know as soon as possible and ask about retake options.

  2. Understand State and District Policies: Most districts offer make-up days within the testing window.

  3. Document the Reason: For absences due to medical or emergency reasons, written documentation may be required.

  4. Support Recovery: Help your child review key material again to stay fresh for the rescheduled date.

💡 What If It’s an EOC or College Entrance Exam?

  • EOCs: Typically have a testing window that allows makeups within a week or two.

  • SAT/ACT: Students can reschedule through the testing agency website, often with a small fee.

Missing a test doesn’t mean missing an opportunity—quick communication and preparation can keep your student on track.
