Breaking Down the Florida End-of-Course (EOC) Assessments: What Students Need to Know

End-of-Course assessments play a significant role in a student’s academic journey in Florida. Here's what you need to know to help your student prepare and succeed.

Subjects Covered

The EOCs currently cover:

  • Algebra 1

  • Geometry

  • Biology 1

  • U.S. History

  • Civics (for middle school students)

How These Exams Affect Final Grades and Graduation Requirements

  • Weight: EOC scores often account for about 30% of the student’s final grade in that course. So, preparing for these are going to be just as important as any typical assignment.

  • Graduation Requirements: A passing score on the Algebra 1 EOC is required for high school graduation. Geometry EOC performance may also influence graduation depending on the student’s academic track.

Success on EOCs can also impact course placement and scholarship eligibility.
